Purchasing Tips
.Color: Natural hashima has color difference. Beware of those with a dull amber color.
.Size: The length of hashima is 5cm on average. The hasma taken from the stomach may break into smaller pieces, measuring the size of a finger at most. Products with larger pieces may be made with cow frog.
.Swelling capacity: Genuine hashima may expand dozens of times the original volume when soaked in cold water. Therefore, 37.5g of hashima is equal to a month’s worth if one consumes a bowl daily. The swelling capacity of fake hashima is poorer.
.Fragrance: Rich in estrogenic hormone, dried hasma has a unique fragrance while the fake has a different smell.
.Imitations: Solely produced in Northeastern China, hashima is scarce, expensive, and difficult to differentiate visually. Many merchants use cow frogs or snake oil to fake genuine hashima, and offer imitations at lower prices. Therefore, price is not the only factor when selecting hashima. Consumers are advised to buy from established and trustworthy supplier.。
